I can hear most of you now. Half of you are scratching your heads wondering how I got through nearly a dozen years of porn reviews without ever reviewing the original "Taboo." The other half are scratching your heads wondering what the hell this movie "Taboo" is. It's a classic flick that was released originally some twenty seven years ago. A quarter century later, Standard Digital has released a new DVD version of this Golden Age standard. I am actually really impressed with the picture and sound quality. They have done a great job with the transfer. It isn't HD quality, but when you consider that this is a DVD from a film that is nearly thirty years old, it is excellent. They have also included two different audio commentary tracks to listen to. We also get a separate interview with Kay Parker which will certainly be of interest to anyone who likes the Golden Era stuff.
Fed up with her sexual limitations and in lust with his secretary; Kay's husband bail in the middle of the night. Left to fend for herself and for her son, she hits the pavement to find a job. But not before calling her friend Juliet Anderson to give her the news. The two friends have lunch and naturally Juliet mentions Kay's hunky young son.
Cue sex scene between said son (Mike Ranger) and his cute girlfriend Dorothy LeMay. She is a very pretty blonde who rewards him for a successful study session with a blowjob. Right in the middle of the BJ she invites her friend to join them. This chick is a tanned little beach girl who gives a good blowjob and then gets fucked in a painfully brief scene.
Kay gets a job, but it goes badly when her boss makes a horribly clumsy pass at her after work. For some reason, hearing her friend nearly get raped really turns Juliet on. Compare that short sex scene to the lengthy segment where Mike watches his mother shower, dry off and then get dressed and you see the primary problem with "classic" porn flicks. Not that the tease is too long. It's very good. But the sex scenes are just too short in this movie. As soon as mom heads out for her date, Mike and Dorothy do what horny college kids do. She puts her pretty lips around his cock and devours it greedily. There is some really good reverse cowgirl here, but then the mish is cut super short. Hard to complain after such a good looking blowjob and a shot on Dorothy's pretty face.
Kay's date takes her to a swinger's party that turn into a huge daisy chain. This is one of those scenes that is considered to be classic. It must have been a major shock or something because there really isn't much here. There is a short shot of the big ring of bodies and then it breaks into a choppy collection of orgy footage. While there isn't much to enjoy sexually, we see Kay pushed closer to her on by a pushy young guy who keeps hitting on her.
Watching all that sex has Kay wired up when she gets home. As she passes her son's room she sees him sleeping naked with a hard on. It is just too tempting and she dives down onto his dick. He wakes up and rolls his mother over. The lust that has been building comes out in a big way as he drops the hammer on her. They finish up with a quick tit fuck and a big shot all over her face.
Bouncing from man to man Kay makes a connection with her boss. It happens quickly and complicates things as she tries to distance herself from her son. That resolve lasts only moments and they hook up for another quick, passionate fuck.
How short are the sex scenes in this movie? The final ten minutes gives us a three way with Juliet and a scene between Kay and her new man. We also wrap up the story in this short time period.
I don't think anyone is going to pick this up expecting a modern raincoater flick. If you were looking for that, please look elsewhere. The sex scenes are short, softer than we are used to and simply not up to the best of what we get these days. That's the down side of course. On the bright side, we get to see a classic. It is pretty easy to see why this is an all-time favorite. Kay Parker is a stunning woman who handles a rather difficult role. The script is pretty basic, but it is certainly has more emotional depth than most anything we see these days. Both she and Ranger are impressive in this film. The story touches on a number of things that would, if you will pardon me, taboo issues even today. Real incest, that is to say the portrayal of a genuinely incestuous relationship in porn today is nearly non-existent. That helps make the original "Taboo" somewhat edgy nearly thirty years after its release. I suppose that makes it psychologically sexy for those who are interested in incest fantasies. That may help make it strokeable even if the sex scenes come up short. Compared to other movies of its time, "Taboo" has some rather hot some Kay looks fantastic and just watching her soap up in the shower is bound to launch plenty of loads. Dorothy is very cute, lends her pretty face to some nice oral action. Whoever that little surfer chick is, she's fucking hot. For anyone who hasn't seen this classic, now is your chance. If you have been waiting for a great DVD transfer to add it to your collection, grab this one. And by all means, if you're into busty moms getting it on with their sons, then you've found the movie of your dreams.
